Hi, I'm Sarah Maq
Founder of Les Esprits Libres
Â
This is my Story
Â
I was born between two worlds; My Moroccan Amazigh father, Muslim by faith and rooted in ancestral and rich memory, and a French-Canadian mother, Catholic by lineage and devoted to healing.
I grew up surrounded by spirit, not only in theory but it was truly engraved and rooted in my daily life. My grandfather, my grandmother, my mother were all healers in their own way.
The invisible was never far.Â
Since I could speak, I have been drawing and creating in all the ways I could. It quickly became my first language and my ways to make sense of the world.I never fitted into boxes and was never able to follow the rules, I always had that fire and rush within me to burn everything that didn’t felt right. The moment I could sense the world going into one direction, I would go the other way.
Even when I tried the “normal” path, studying fashion and becoming a shoe designer, something in me stayed restless.
The more success I found, the more lost I felt.
Then, I was gifted the most important initiation of them all as a women and I became a mother.Â
And one day, just like that…I left it all, the perfect career and the polished image. I walked away from what looked right, to live what felt true, the life I was meant to live.Â
Let me tell you something.. What followed was definitely not a straight line.
It was a descent to the underworld and a rising to the sky, I experienced multiples losses , traumas and abandonment, yet a lot of remembering, profound liberating surrender and exalting fire. I walked on burning embers for years, going through initiations I didn’t choose with my mind but knew deep within my soul.
I opened my voice, the one that had been silenced for generations and generations. I held circles, sound baths, deep healing and resting spaces for others to hold truth.
I came back to the roots I had never really left. I planted my two feet deep into the soil where my ancestors have walked and I became the hands that remembers, the voice that prays, the art that listens.
Now, I create from that place, where spirit and body meet and where art becomes a ceremony, where expression is a form of devotion and where every voice matters especially the quiet ones.
Live your Art.Â
- Sarah maq
Sarah Maq is a multidimensional artist, poet, and visionary who opens spaces where creativity becomes a path of healing, truth, and return. She is the founder of Les Esprits Libres, a living offering at the intersection of art, embodiment, and grounded spirituality.
Her work lives in many forms; visual art, tattoo ritual, spoken word, song, movement, space holding and ceremony. The essence remains the same which is to awaken what is real, to free what has been silenced, and to bring people home to their raw beauty. Her invitation if for others to explore what lives beneath the surface, to express what words can’t always say, to meet themselves without the need for perfection but in honesty and to remember the language of simplicity and feeling.
Sarah doesn’t stand from a pedestal, she listens with her skin, she creates with her blood. She laughs in the middle of sacred circles and sings through heartbreak. She carries fire in her belly and water in her hands. Her medicine is playful presence , precise and full of paradoxical poetry, a blend of contrasts that somehow make perfect sense together.
She guides those who are ready to live wide open, to feel, to express, to return to simplicity and innocence without bypassing the sticky depth and the ugly. With her, the path is never about performance, it is always about truth. Remembering who you are before the world told you who to be.
Rooted in her ancestral memory, feminine wisdom, and the creative chaos of being fully alive, Sarah holds space like she lives; wild, grounded, tender, and fiercely free.

Come as you are,Â
We will begin there.Â
1-on-1 Mentorship
This space is a sanctuary for all that is raw, unfinished masterpieces and honest in you. We will listen to what wants to rise through your voice, your sight and the subtle longings in your breath and your body.
We won’t try to fix you, because my love you are not broken. Sometimes we just need someone that is able to truly hold and walk alongside us, without judgement.Â
We’ll follow and listen to how life wants to move through you, and let it show us what longs to be shaped by your hands, spoken by your mouth and carried by your heart. Â
